Introduction
Access training and grants - The Institute for Sustainable Development in Business is running a series of workshops starting in September looking at a range of environmental and health and safety issues.

By attending these workshops the Institute can assist you to access up to £5,000 of grant support towards the purchase of advanced environmental technology.

Resource Efficiency
These workshops are aimed at anyone who is interested in improving their business performance by implementing simple but effective resource efficiency principles.

The workshops will provide you with an introduction to resource efficiency in addition to practical ideas and support. You do not have to be a manufacturing company – a services company can learn just as much.

When, Where & What
All the workshops will be held at Nottingham Trent University , 8am for 8.30am start until 12pm with breakfast refreshments provided:

  • Introduction to Resource Efficiency and Legislation:
    The drivers behind it and the benefits to you, followed up by an introduction to the raft of waste legislation.
  • Process Mapping:
    What is itand how it can help you to identify areas of waste within your company. Work through an example and find out how to apply it to your business.
  • Energy Management, Environmental Policies and Environmental Management Systems:
    How to improve your energy management, develop an environmental policy with an introduction into environmental management systems.

Throughout the workshops help to implement the theory will be provided by our advisors and your company will be offered a FREE site visit. The workshops can be taken singly though we recommend that you attend the series of three to gain full benefit.

Grants up to £5000
By attending the workshops we can also assist you to access funding to purchase environmental technology. This technology can include process improvements, energy saving and waste management equipment. The grant is a maximum of £5,000, (maximum of 50 % contribution towards purchase and installation costs).

Additional Workshops

  • Health & Safety Workshops
    a full day to provide you with the information and skills to look at health and safety and risk assessments within your company and an understanding of the legislation surrounding it. Additional short courses on specific health and safety issues, such as fire safety and manual handling are also available.
  • Environmental Awareness Workshops
    providing a starting point for looking at environmental issues within your company including baseline reviews and environmental policies.
  • Environmental Management Systems Workshops
    do you want to know more about how to develop an EMS? This workshop will provide you with information on where to start and what is involved in implementing a system. This will include looking at the accredited British Standard BS 8555 and ISO 14001.

Cost
Due to European funding, if your company has less than 250 employees and is based within an objective 2 area the workshops are totally free.

A fee will be charged to companies that do not meet these criteria, please contact us to discuss your eligibility and costs for individual workshops.
