What is the Environmental Industries Development Programme?
Commenced in June 2004 and running until April 2006, this programme of intensive, tailor-made Continuing Professional Development will help you address environmental problems, issues and opportunities, with a view to reducing costs, minimising legal risks and increasing your staff's skills and knowledge.

Saving you money, adding to your knowledge,
If you are an SME based in the East Midlands and operating in the Environmental Goods and Services sector, then this 5-day Continuing Professional Development Programme from Nottingham Trent University is suitable for you. Just by raising awareness of these issues, your company can benefit from knowing what has to be done in order to comply with environmental legislation, thus avoiding possible prosecution, costly fines and even a prison sentence. Once the necessary skills have been embedded in your organisation, you can save even more money by avoiding expensive consultancy fees.

What is more, by understanding some of the opportunities raised by participating in this new market place, you can also take advantage of new streams of revenue and profit.

What does the course contain?
Each course will contain a mix of bespoke classroom training and self-learning to embed the new skills. The programme is seeking IEMA ( Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment) accreditation at the "Foundation" level. Participants will increase their knowledge in such areas as resource management, environmental impacts, design and Environmental Management Systems.

Who can go on the course?
The course is aimed at any company which wants to increase the skills base of its management team, or at any individuals who want to increase their value to their employer. We hope that participants will come from all sorts of organisations - manufacturing, services, charities, public sector, consultancies - but all will have a basic wish to improve their company's performance and profitability by being more aware of their impact on the environment.
